This isn’t a new blog per se, but a P.S. to my last, where I highly recommended the PBS series The Brain with David Eagleman. You’ve brought it to my attention (and I apologize— I really should’ve known) that the series isn’t viewable outside the US, and may not even be viewable in US markets other than the Los Angeles area, where I live. I’ve tried to think of some workarounds. Of course you can order the DVD or download all episodes from Amazon Prime or iTunes. Start with the links at Dr. Eagleman’s website: http://eagleman.com/thebrain. Or you can try to find used DVDs on eBay or craigslist, etc. The downside is that all these workarounds aren’t free (the DVD costs about USD 23 new, and each episode streamed costs USD 3). But think of this as an opportunity to ask your L.A. friends/relatives for a nice Christmas present, one you’ll really really like! (^^) I watched the series on KOCE, one of three PBS stations local to me, and now I see that one of the other three (KCLS) has started to air it too Sundays. So an alternative is to wait until your local PBS station decides to air it. (You could contact them and urge them to do so— believe me, it helps). I know that some clips from the series are available free on YouTube. Try searching there. You might even find “unofficial” complete episodes there uploaded by fans. The downside is that typically the quality of these fan uploads may not be optimal. And you can surf around the net looking for bootleg copies, pirated versions in Quiapo, etc., but of course I would never ever recommend that you do this (^^). If all else fails, contact me (you can comment this blog or use the contact form on this website) and I’ll see if I can find a solution for you. That goes not only for The Brain, but also for other PBS programs I’ve recommended, like Aroy’s The Delano Manongs, which may present the same problems. No promises now, except that I’ll try.
