A POKER WIN!

207 WORDS / 90 SECOND READ / ORIGINALLY POSTED JANUARY 25, 2015 (EDITED)

Forgive me the long silence– since late October, I’ve needed to make time for myself to focus on some inner work. Now the clouds are parting and it feels like time to reach out again. Feels good.

And now at last some good news: Last Tuesday I finally cashed in a poker tournament, a small one, placing second in a field of 47, winning USD 500 against my buy-in cost of USD 46 + tips for the casino staff. I actually was leading going into the second-to-the-last hand, but made a big blunder against the player who ended up first (USD 800 prize, and yes, my mistake had to do with some of the personal stuff I’d been working on; so yes, I guess that needs more work!).

But it looks like I’m still on track with my plan to turn pro January 2017. My poker coach, George “The Engineer” Epstein, has featured me twice in the column he writes for Gaming Today, a newspaper that covers casinos and the sports betting industry, so that’s given me a nice shot of optimism. My plan looks doable.

There’s a BIG tourney next Tuesday. If I do well there, maybe I can even advance my timetable a bit. Wish me luck!
